Singer R Kelly announces tour to Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand

Singer R Kelly announces tour to Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand”

Because of allegations of sexual abuse surrounding the singer, Shayne Neumann, the Labor party's shadow minister for immigration and border protection in Australia, suggested his party would support Kelly being denied a visa, according to United Kingdom paper The Independent.

R. Kelly, whose career is reeling from the longstanding sexual-misconduct allegations presented in Lifetime's harrowing documentary Surviving R. Kelly, has announced tour dates almost as far as geographically possible from the United States: in Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

The scandal surrounding R. Kelly hasn't died down but it clearly hasn't prevented him from trying to make his coins.

"See y'all soon", Kelly captioned the tour announcement flyer, which dubbed him the "The King of R&B".

The tweet has now been deleted after people on Twitter urged fans not to buy tickets for the tour and criticised the announcement. The singer didn't actually reveal any dates for the tour yet. No new criminal charges have been filed against Kelly since the most recent alleged sexual misconduct was brought to light.

The news of Kelly's potential tour comes just a month after the artist came under intense scrutiny in the wake of the Lifetime docu-series, Surviving R. Kelly, that features interviews with women who claim that for a decade Kelly used his power and influence to sexually and physically abuse women and young girls. Most infamously, Kelly was charged with child pornography in 2000 after a video surfaced that purported to show him having sex with an underage woman (Kelly was cleared in 2008 after that woman declined to testify against him).

A Department of Home Affairs spokesperson said the department did not comment on individual cases. But the department said in a statement there were strong legal provisions to block entry to anyone "found not to be of good character".

Kelly is a multi-platinum R & B star who has not only notched multiple hits for himself, but also many high-profile performers.
