Southampton vow to ban fans over Emiliano Sala 'aeroplane' mockery”

Two Southampton supporters are set to be banned after taunting Cardiff City fans over the tragic death of Emiliano Sala.

The video, which has outraged many on social media, showed two men in the home section of St Mary's making alleged aeroplane gestures in the direction of away fans.

"The only thing I can say that makes sense right now is that we, as a group, as a team and as a club, need these days to get together and analyse our small mistakes and details".

Manager Neil Warnock wasn't able to keep his tears back last Saturday when they won for the first time since his disappearance with a 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

Players in games across the Premier League and EFL wore black armbands in tribute to Sala.

Two Southampton supporters could be banned from the club after taunting Cardiff City fans about the death of striker Emiliano Sala.

"Such behaviour has no place in our game and will not be tolerated at St Mary's", read the statement from Southampton following the incident.

Argentine footballing idols Diego Maradona and Gabriel Batistuta also paid tribute to Sala, 28.

The club further maintained they will not condone such indecent gestures towards Cardiff supporters.

They also published a poignant image from inside the dressing room, showing all shirts printed with Sala's name on - and his space left empty.

Nantes" players had promised to "win for Sala' and goals from Kalifa Coulibaly and Abdul Majeed Waris gave them a 2-0 half-time lead over Nimes, but emotions had worn the home side's nerves thin and they collapsed to a 4-2 defeat.

It read: "Nantes had the vast sadness on Thursday to learn that the body found was that of Emiliano Sala".

David Ibbotson was flying the private plane, a Piper Malibu N264DB, when it lost control with air traffic control over the channel, north of Guernsey, on Monday 21 January.
