Two new measles cases in Vancouver as outbreak spreads to Edmonton”

On Saturday the mom spoke with Global News and requested anonymity. "One dose of measles vaccine is 95 per cent effective and it's very, very safe", said Keays.

The mom wanted people to know that this person visited Delta Hospital on Feb. 17 and Feb. 20 and was also at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver on Feb. 20.

AHS says those in the impacted locations that were born after 1970 and have not had the measles disease or have not received two doses of measles vaccine may be at risk for developing measles.

Vancouver Coastal Health spokeswoman Tiffany Akins said on Sunday that the two most recent cases had been acquired while travelling overseas.

Juma said a patient's condition can change quickly and can impact a diagnosis.

At a news conference Monday, Vancouver Coastal Health said no new cases have been reported since the weekend. A list of the boy's movements has been posted by VCH to ensure public safety.

Hayden says the health authority is doing its best to find the source of measles in the 10th person in an effort to prevent more people from being exposed.

Reported by BCCDC an exposure alert has been issued by Vancouver Coastal Health for Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Richmond.

The B.C. Pharmacy Association is reminding the public that pharmacists across the province are prepared to give booster shots or new vaccinations to adults and children five years or older.

Symptoms include fever of 38.3 degrees Celsius or higher, a cough, with runny nose and/or red eyed, a red blotchy rash that appears three to seven days after the fever which spreads all over the body. An infected person may also experience Koplik spots in their mouths (small bluish white spots).

If symptoms of measles do develop, these individuals are advised to stay home and call local emergency health services, before visiting any health care facility or provider. Measles immunization is free for everyone.

She said the outbreak is "reasonably well-contained", but that more cases are possible.

Officials in the Northwest Territories have also issued a statement, warning that a person flew to Inuvik from an "international destination" on February 13, and that the person's travels also took them through Yellowknife and Norman Wells, N.W.T., the same day.

Many of them have been at two French-language schools in Vancouver, a cluster that began after an unvaccinated B.C. child contracted the disease during a family trip to Vietnam.
