An Apple AR headset could arrive next year, top analyst says”

Now prominent Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that he believes Cupertino will begin manufacturing head-mounted display as early as the end of 2019, and Apple will roll them out in 2020.

The iPhone maker may ramp up the production of the glasses by Q2 of next year, according to Kuo.

There have been rumblings of Apple working on some sort of augmented reality headset for months, and that's something that has gained more traction as more advanced AR features have been added to iPhones and iPads. The report also mentioned that the headset would run on a new customised operating system called "rOS" which would stand for "reality operating system" and would be based on iOS. And the actual rendering, computing, internet connectivity and location services displayed on the AR headset will be coming from the iPhone while it's right there in the user's pocket. That is, the information you want to transmit will be processed on our iPhone and the result will be sent via Bluetooth to our glasses, similar to what can happen with our Apple Watch although it is more independent.

True to those reports, Apple is recently showing more signs the speculated AR products will soon hit the market. However, both headsets from Microsoft and Magic Leap are expensive. But now it looks like Apple might make its rumored AR glasses an accessory to the iPhone. "It is assumed that the pairing will work wirelessly", 9To5Mac reported on Friday. Apple's patent suggests the phone would simply have to be near the headset to function.

Apart from a new range of ThinkPad and Chromebook laptops, Lenovo also unveiled Yoga ANC headphones designed for immersive entertainment or productivity.

The next Apple smartphone will also likely bend the knee to augmented reality in ways not yet seen in the iPhone.

Unfortunately, we can't give you an actual number until we find out exactly what Apple's headset can do and what it contains. We already knoq that that Tim Cook belives that AR will be huge and he is placing a big bet on it. For the time being, the distinction between all these reality-enhancing and reality-replacing experiences is not extremely clear, although the consensus among companies like Apple and Facebook seems to be that AR has a much brighter future than VR technology.
