Natural Power welcomes Offshore Wind Sector Deal

Natural Power welcomes Offshore Wind Sector Deal”

By 2030 the number of mega offshore wind farms in British waters is expected to double under a multi-billion pound Government-industry partnership to be announced today.

The floating offshore wind power market is anticipated to witness growth in coming years on account of increasing focus on creation of floating offshore wind power infrastructure and technological advancements associated with the same.

A total 70 percent of the country's electricity is predicted to be generated from low-carbon sources by 2030.

To conclude, Offshore Wind Turbine report focus on Global and regional market, providing information on major players like manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, traders, customers, investors, major types, major applications and etc. Data type include capacity, production, market share, price, revenue, cost, gross, gross margin, growth rate, consumption, import, export, Industry chain, manufacturing process, cost structure, marketing channel are also analyzed in this report.

Leading offshore wind figures expect the joint government-industry blueprint will create a jobs boom in coastal communities and economically deprived regions around the UK.

MHI Vestas vice president Julian Brown said: "Our recent investment on the Isle of Wight is already delivering on the sector deal ambitions, creating almost 400 new highly skilled jobs in 2019, exporting over three quarters of our 2019 output and investing £1m in a four-year skills programme".

However, Greenpeace said the 30GW by 2030 installed capacity target is "woefully inadequate" in the light of the recent collapse of the Moorside and Wylfa nuclear developments, which it said had blown a 6.3GW hole in the nation's energy strategy.

Reduce the cost of projects in the 2020s and overall system costs, so projects commissioning in 2030 will cost consumers less as we move towards a subsidy free world.

The Crown Estate will also be releasing new seabed land from 2019 for future offshore wind projects.

SSE Renewables director of generation development Paul Cooley said: "We welcome the sector deal as a long-term mutual commitment from government and industry to help harness the incredible wind resource that our coastlines offer and deliver significant economic opportunities".

"By 2030 a third of our electricity will come from offshore wind, generating thousands of high-quality jobs across the United Kingdom, a strong United Kingdom supply chain and a five-fold increase in exports".

But Greenpeace said that renewables needed to be scaled up even more. Over a quarter of engineering construction companies support the renewable energy sector and, as the statutory skills body for the engineering construction industry, we have a crucial role to play in developing the workforce to meet current and future demand. It means the Government's latest offshore wind target of 30 gigawatts by 2030 is woefully inadequate.

Additionally, it "will look to seize on the opportunities presented by the UK's 7,000 miles of coastline, as the industry continues to be a coastal catalyst for numerous UK's former fishing villages and ports", the government statement said.
