Orphan Black spin-off series in development at AMC

Orphan Black spin-off series in development at AMC”

Variety is reporting that AMC is now in early talks to bring the beloved series Orphan Black back to TV, after it ended its five-season run on the channel two years ago. While the new show won't be a sequel or a reboot per se, it will be set in the same universe as the original and feature an all-new story.

The outlet reports that producers are now seeking a writer for the project and are bringing in multiple people to pitch different takes on the show's premise.

AMC and Temple Street declined to comment. It starred Emmy victor Tatiana Maslany as multiple clones in the Peabody Award-winning series that all started on a train platform. United States channel AMC (part of the same company as originators BBC America) is considering a new show set in the same world.

Whether that means a completely new cast of characters rather than telling another story with Tatiana Maslany's Sarah Manning-or one of the many other clones she portrayed on the show (or even one we didn't get to meet) - remains to be seen.

Telling the tale of clone sisters caught up in a genetic conspiracy, Orphan Black aired for five seasons on BBC America, signing off for good on August 12, 2017. The producers are now looking for a writer, but it's interesting that it's being developed at AMC instead of at BBC America. Are you interested in a new Orphan Black series? But it's also possible that the new series could air on multiple networks under the AMC Networks umbrella, like BBC America's acclaimed drama Killing Eve, whose second season will be simulcast on its original network as well as AMC.
