Will There Be a 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Sequel?

Will There Be a 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Sequel?”

A representative for Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King has denied a sequel is in development to United States blog Slash Film. We probably (definitely) haven't seen the last of Freddie Mercury's story on the big screen.

Queen could be planning a sequel to their blockbuster biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, according to a longtime confidant of the band.

Rudi Dolezal, who directed videos for the band, including for their 1985 hit One Vision, and was close to Freddie, says their legendary manager Jim Beach and others around the band are discussing how to proceed with a follow-up.

Beach also produced "Bohemian Rhapsody", which has made more than $870 million worldwide.

Bohemian Rhapsody went on to win four Oscars, including Best Actor for Rami Malek.

"I'm sure he plans a sequel that starts with Live Aid". He quipped in an interview of the project, "I think Live Aid is a good point to leave it". The first movie grossed nearly $900 million worldwide, becoming the top grossing music biopic of all time, and it won for Oscars last month, including Best Actress for Rami Malek.

Bohemian Rhapsody followed Queen from their formation in the 1970s through to their iconic performance at the Live Aid concert in 1985, several years before Mercury passed away in 1991.

In the absence of a Bohemian Rhapsody sequel, there is still more of Mercury's story to be told, as Dolezal revealed that he's writing a book called My Friend, Freddie and plans to release interviews he had with Mercury in a film Freddie Mercury: In His Own Words.

Page Six further reports that Malek said he had not heard anything about a sequel, nor had Queen's record label. That's who sang "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions" at the Oscars, a well-received performance and why we're having this sequel discussion in the first place. The Mercury role was once going to be played by Sacha Baron Cohen.
