NASA will pay you $19K to stay in bed

NASA will pay you $19K to stay in bed”

This study is aimed at learning the effects of weightlessness in space which is very similar to bed rest, in the sleep condition.

"To make these missions possible, various risks to astronaut health must be minimized".

NASA are looking for healthy women between the ages of 24 & 55 for their Artificial Gravity Bed Rest Study. To get ready for any contingencies that may occur, scientists are creating a simulation to understand what the human body could go through.

And, all you have to do is to just lie in bed for two months.

But what does lying in bed have to do with weightlessness in space?

Scientists will study if daily sessions inside artificial gravity chambers can help prevent muscle deterioration on long-distance space missions like the Mars mission. The facility is operated by the Institute of Aerospace Medicine at the German Space Agency (DLR). Half of them will be spun for short durations in a laboratory centrifuge. The centrifuge's spinning arm will drive blood back toward the participant's feet, simulating the impacts of gravity and, the researchers anticipate, enlightening what advantages such a system may offer for real-life astronauts during their extended stays within space.

For example, Scientists who fly to the International Space Station, in order to keep their bodies how they should be, they have to exercise regularly with resistance machines, but NASA and ESA want to know if another benefit can be drawn from occasional upkeep with artificial gravity.

Plus, as this experiment is happening at the German Aerospace Centre in Cologne you need to be able to speak German and be over 18. Once the two months of bed rest is complete, participants will be required to stay an additional 29 days for acclimation and supervised recovery.

According to the New York Post, a group including NASA and other researchers is conducting the study in Germany.
