The Mueller Report Should Be Public

The Mueller Report Should Be Public”

On Sunday, U.S. Attorney General William Barr released a summary of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's more than 300-page report about his investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 election.

House Democrats have suggested they may subpoena the report if it is not delivered by next week.

"You can't say that he (President Donald Trump) has committed treason, and say, 'But we're OK with that, we'll allow him to stay in office.' It isn't one or the other", Stewart said.

Former FBI director Robert Mueller was appointed to head an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election nearly two years ago.

"Everyone will soon be able to read it on their own", Barr wrote in the letter to the top Democrats and Republicans on the Senate and House Judiciary committees.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham of SC, meanwhile, said of Barr's letter: "I look forward to hearing from Attorney General Barr on May 1". Bernie Sanders refused to respond when asked if he would accept Mueller's report if there is indeed no evidence of collusion. The House has passed a similar resolution.

Nadler's Republican counterpart, ranking member Doug Collins, R-Ga., tweeted that the chairman "stands alone in setting arbitrary deadlines for that release and in calling the attorney general to break the law by releasing the report without redactions". In reaction to Barr's latest update on releasing the report, Trump said Friday that he has "nothing to hide". They also touch on what they think may or may not be in the report. Or force out an attorney general for failing to protect him from an investigation. We also know what it's going to be called, and it's not a surprise. He's looking for ways to justify his politicization of the committee's work and Mueller's conclusions.

But does this completely exonerate Trump?

Trump hyped up his visit to Grand Rapids on Twitter Thursday morning.

Trump has been accused of lying 8.158 times since he took office two years ago, according to the Washington Post.

The U.S. intelligence community has concluded that Russian Federation used a campaign of hacking and propaganda to sow discord in the United States, harm Hillary Clinton and boost Mr. Trump's candidacy.

Not surprisingly, the responses were sharply divided along party lines.

"There's a difference between compelling evidence of collusion and whether the special counsel concludes that he can prove beyond a reasonable doubt the criminal charge of conspiracy", Schiff claimed in an interview with ABC. "And I do", Schiff said.

'In one way you could say it's a crime what he did, because ... he was making disgusting statements that he knew were false'.

His team have charged 34 people - including six former Trump aides and a dozen Russians - as well as three companies.

"The Special Counsel's report is almost 400 pages long (exclusive of tables and appendices) and sets forth the Special Counsel's findings, his analysis, and the reasons for his conclusions", Barr said. Barr said that based on the evidence presented, he concluded it was not sufficient to charge the president with obstruction.

Pelosi rallied to Schiff's defence.

Trump once referred to Schiff online as 'little Adam Schitt (D-CA)'.

The House intelligence committee has been bitterly split along party lines for years on the Russian Federation investigation, which was taken over by Mueller in May 2017 after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey. Democrats, led by Schiff, blasted the announcement as premature.
