IGER: STAR WARS Movies Will Go on 'Hiatus' After EPISODE IX”

There will be a break in the Star Wars movies after the release of Star Wars: Episode IX later this year, Disney boss Bob Iger has confirmed. However, it looks like that's about to change after the release of the now untitled, final chapter of the Skywalker Saga, Episode IX.

New movies following the current trilogy are now in development, but it appear that it could be come time before we see them. We will take a pause for some time and reset. because the Skywalker saga comes to an end with this ninth movie. Beyond that, there's the 20th Anniversary of LEGO Star Wars (Yup, the first sets were from Episode I), a first look at EA's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and much, much more!

The famed Luke Skywalker actor, who has appeared in five of the 11 films released in the franchise so far, understands that the heyday for the galaxy far, far away may have passed.

These new movies likely include The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson's stand-alone trilogy, as well as another trio of films from Game of Thrones' David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

That wasn't the only Star Wars TV series to be discussed at the convention, as fans were given their first glimpse of The Mandalorian. Iger said as far the immediate future is concerned, Lucasfilm will be focusing more on TV projects.

There was a good amount of Star Wars news from Disney's formal unveiling of Disney+, including updates on the Rogue One spinoff series, as well as confirmation Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian will hit when the platform goes live November 12. Apart from that, there's also a Cassion Andor series in the works with Diego Luna reprising his role.

The world, however, expects to learn the name of Episode IX later Friday.
