Trump Touts 55 Percent Approval From Poll That Found 43 Percent Approval

Trump Touts 55 Percent Approval From Poll That Found 43 Percent Approval”

A Fox Business network program touted President Donald Trump's approval rating Wednesday night from a recent poll-but that number was actually his unfavorable rating.

The poll that was cited in the graphic was from the Georgetown Institute of Politics, but that poll didn't show Trump's overall approval at 55%, as shown in the graphic.

While 18 percent more women said they will vote Democrat if voting on a generic congressional ballot, 58 percent of white women approved of Trump on the economy and 63 percent of married white women approve of Trump on the economy. The president's overall unfavorable rating amongst likely voters was 55 percent, but Fox reported his approval rating as 55 percent.

However, it appears Dobbs has gotten his poll numbers totally mixed up, as the actual poll shows 55 percent of voters view Trump unfavorably, while just 40 percent have a favorable view.

Not enough people watch Dobbs to bother with correcting him, but once Trump amplified the false finding, corrections began pouring in.

"The graphic also showed that 55 percent of the respondents approve of the president, that number is not correct", he said.

Georgetown's poll showed Trump's job approval rating at 58 percent, which Fox Business reported correctly. He also incorrectly called it "robust".

"It's been a quite start to the day for President Trump, though he did send out a tweet this morning from the Lou Dobbs show last night on Fox Business".

The president shared the Fox graphic with incorrect poll numbers on his Twitter account to his almost 60 million followers, along with the caption: "Great news!"

"The president's victories are showing up in the polls, according to a Georgetown University poll". That portion of the graphic was right.

Since taking office, President Donald Trump has had consistently dismal approval polling, usually hovering steadily around 42 percent with disapproval in the mid-50s or even low 60s at different points.
