Redmi working on a smartphone with 32 MP selfie camera?”

Also, the device is believed to have a 48MP primary camera, as well as a second depth lens destined for portraits in a triple camera array. And it seems the company is hungry for more. If we are to believe fresh reports emanating from China, Xiaomi is now planning to release a brand new Redmi branded device with a 32-megapixel front-facing selfie camera. While specific details about this new handset are scarce, indications are that the company could launch this device the Redmi Y3.

It's understandable why some industry watchers may have concluded that the Snapdragon 855-powered Redmi flagship will have a pop-up camera particularly given the flagship's alleged full-screen approach, but if the front-facing sensor is not motorized as initially suspected then the question remains: how will the device handle selfies? Weibing's post only denies the presence of a pop-up selfie camera. Now, it is being speculated that the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Y3 will come with a 32MP selfie camera. The smartphone features a 5-megapixel selfie camera at the front.

As a successor to last year's selfie-centric Redmi Y2, Xiaomi is expected to launch Redmi Y3 in India soon. With this in-trend feature, the phone will join the likes of Vivo V15, Vivo 15 Pro, Huawei P30 Pro, and P30 Lite that are already available in India. All four smartphones offer Samsung's GD1 sensor. The sensor also comes with support for real-time HDR mode. Also, for the first time, a smartphone from the Redmi series will feature a USB-C port. "This inspires us even more to further ramp up the supply for our popular Redmi Note 7 series and help all our Mi Fans access it easily". As of now, there is no official information on the launch date of the Redmi Y3 in India.
