Facebook and Instagram go down worldwide with users shown error message

Facebook and Instagram go down worldwide with users shown error message”

At the time of writing, independent outage monitor Down Detector has registered almost 5,000 reports from users insisting WhatsApp is experiencing an outage.

Facebook users found their news feeds refusing to refresh while those trying to reach the main Facebook.com domain found it unavailable.

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp users are naturally taking to Twitter to share their experiences.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the outage from Facebook, which owns all three services. #WhatsAppDown, #InstagramDown and #FacebookDown were trending on Twitter worldwide. Last month, they had attributed it to a "server configuration change".

Sunday's outage is yet another publicity problem for a company already dealing with privacy issues and regulatory probes.

Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram were all inaccessible for hours.

There aren't any official announcements from Facebook just yet. Many users say the social media networking sites have been unable to load.
