Nexus 6P Bootloop Issues Will Cost Google, Huawei $9.75M

Nexus 6P Bootloop Issues Will Cost Google, Huawei $9.75M”

The $9.75 million settlement is still pending approval by the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California.

Google and Huawei have clearly come a long way from 2015, so even assuming they could have successfully defended against the damning accusations in this case, there was no point in digging up the past. The next hearing on this is scheduled on May 9. For instance, Nexus 6P users in the USA who purchased the device on or after September 25th, 2015 would be eligible to claim reimbursement.

Getting the said amount could be far from being a simple chore though, as there are several tiers that have been devised and users would be required to satisfy several conditions to get the amount applicable in each tier. 2015's Nexus 6P, for instance, was praised in our initial review for its premium build quality, silky smooth user experience, blazing fast performance, versatile camera, excellent sound, and speedy charging technology. The Nexus 6P devices would randomly shut down or restart regardless of the battery level, so the owners took the issue to court.

Google and Huawei have settled the class action lawsuit, regarding the bootloop issues with the Nexus 6P. According to the settlement brief, plaintiffs alleged that the Google Nexus 6P had a defect that caused two different issues. Naturally, this turned into a class-action lawsuit against the two companies, alleging that both had breached warranty and therefore consumer rights.

In the Janurary 2018, LG's number of devices including G4, V10, V20, Nexus G5 and Nexus 5X have received the same class action lawsuit by the consumers. If Google sent you an original Pixel as a warranty exchange, you'll only be eligible for a $10 settlement. Back in 2017, a lawsuit was filed against the company by law firm Chimicles & Tikellis.

The settlement is all depending on the court for the approval, but it seems that it's going to happen anytime soon. Moreover, those who submit proper documentation for the bug will receive the large settlement amount, while those without any documentation may be eligible for up to $75.

At present, Google and Nexus have agreed to settle this case of class action for the Nexus 5 users.
