Lille Scupper PSG's Title Celebrations With 5-1 Win

Lille Scupper PSG's Title Celebrations With 5-1 Win”

PSG lost two players to injury and had its goal scorer Juan Bernat sent off - all in a frantic first half.

Magalhaes and Fonte sealed an emphatic win for Lille with a header each in the 72nd and 84th minutes, respectively.

This was the first time PSG had conceded five in a league game since 2 December 2000, when they lost 5-1 at Sedan in what was then called Division 1.

PSG's eighth Ligue 1 title remains a matter of time but they have now passed up chances to confirm it on consecutive Sundays after last week's 2-2 draw with Strasbourg.

"We're going to be champions but we can not lose like this".

Lille went ahead after Meunier diverted a Jonathan Ikone cross into his own goal in the seventh minute.

PSG needed four minutes to respond as Mbappe controlled a bouncing ball and floated over a looping cross for Bernat to finish.

"We've still got six matches left and we need to win at least three or four to be assured of the Champions League next season". "We can not lack character like that, concede 3, 4, 5 goals - that is not normal", he told Canal+, per the Mirror.

"Putting five past PSG doesn't happen to everyone, even if they did only have 10 men, but we played well tonight", Pepe told Canal+.

Coach Thomas Tuchel did not share the player's point of view, pointing out that PSG only had 15 players available for the match.

But Tuchel took umbrage to the comments after the match and has since played down suggestions of any psychological shortcomings from his squad, instead commenting that he was forced to utilise "sick players who should not have played".

PSG played the match with a number of notable absentees, including Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria.

"But we must play with more personality".

"We will be 13 or 14 players short".

"We are missing too many players, and nobody is speaking about it".

"Yes, I will be telling the president as this situation is not good".

"Nobody is saying anything about this, though, as we keep winning".

Earlier, Saint-Etienne kept the pressure on Lyon and Marseille in the race for third spot with a 3-0 home win against Bordeaux.
