Liverpool beats Wolves, misses out on Premier League title

Liverpool beats Wolves, misses out on Premier League title”

Liverpool will warm up for their Champions League final meeting with Tottenham with a week-long training camp in Marbella.

Andy Robertson has given a bullish response to Liverpool missing out on Premier League glory, claiming "we're not going anywhere".

"They're an unbelievable team so they deserve it, congratulations to them".

Klopp said: "When you think about how much he was not playing, maybe you think that I don't like the player that much or I don't trust him too much".

"But we have to look on the positive side and remember we are still in Madrid, hopefully we can end the season on a high".

Liverpool's record-breaking tally of 97 points is the highest a team has ever finished on in second place.

While past title challenges have been followed by disappointing seasons, most notably after the 2001/02, 2008/09, 2013/14 campaigns, it feels as though this is just the beginning for Liverpool.

The Liverpool centre-back, who would have swapped his Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award for a championship medal in a heartbeat, was encouraged by how close they pushed Pep Guardiola's side domestically. "We have to say congratulations to Liverpool and thanks because they helped us to push and increase our standards".

Robertson added, with Liverpool's attention turning to a European showdown with Tottenham on June 1 at Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid: "Man City deserve all the credit they're going to get".

"There's a lot to come, a lot of years, it's all about you and what you do with it, and that's what we do with it".

It's one of them, 97 points - if anyone offered us that at the start of the season I think everyone would've took it.

"That was the most hard title because of the quality of Liverpool and the rivalry we faced all season", he said.

Despite a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool missed out on becoming English champion for the first time since 1990.

They lost only one match - crucially at City in January - but it was not quite good enough as City pipped them by a point to become the first side in a decade to successfully defend the Premier League.

"If we can do it then it'll be a hell of a season".
