Germany: Three Bavaria hotel guests found dead from crossbow bolts

Germany: Three Bavaria hotel guests found dead from crossbow bolts”

Two crossbows were already found Saturday.

A forensic expert arrives, May 13, 2019, to a cordoned off house in Wittingen, Germany, where two bodies were found during an investigation into the deaths of three people killed by crossbow bolts.

The apartment in which the second set of bodies were found belonged to a 30-year-old woman who was found dead in the Bavarian hotel.

Investigators are still trying to determine the relationship between the three, found dead on Saturday, and what exactly happened in the room in a Passau hotel near the Austrian border.

The trio checked into their Bavarian hotel last Friday without luggage and later went out to get their bags, containing the crossbows, from their cars after the reception had closed.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the two corpses in Wittingen, Lower Saxony, had not been killed by crossbow bolts, "the modus operandi can not be compared".

Police said they did not immediately have details of the identity of the women found in a search of the flat in Wittingen, in northern Germany, or what had happened to them.

The woman on the floor had one bolt in her body. The 53-year-old was lying on a bed hand in hand with the 33-year-old, while the 30-year-old was discovered on the floor.

An autopsy on the three victims from the hotel was carried out on Monday and was due to be released on Tuesday.

The group left an impression on other guests, with the man wearing a formal suit and sporting a long white beard and his female companions dressed entirely in black.

One of the women had booked the triple room for 85 euros a night, without breakfast, for three nights.

According to a spokesman for the German Shooting Federation in Wiesbaden, anyone over the age of 18 can purchase a crossbow in Germany, the news agency DPA reported.
