HTC U11, U11+, and U12

HTC U11, U11+, and U12”

"U11 rollout will begin late May, 2019; U11+ will begin late June, 2019; U12+ will begin mid-June, 2019".

As early as August a year ago, HTC announced that several U phones are getting a slice of Android 9 Pie. The company will update the HTC U11 first, around the end of May, followed by the HTC U12 Plus in June, then finally the HTC U11 Plus at the end of June.

In its better days, HTC used to be one of the first Android manufacturers to ship the latest version of Android on its existing offerings as well as new phones. According to the tweet, only three devices will be receiving the Android Pie update.

As always, HTC notes that certain regions and carrier deployment may affect these dates. Per a recent listing on Geekbench, the company apparently has a phone codenamed "HTC 2Q741" in the works, which will be underpinned by the MediaTek Helio P35 chipset and flanked by 6GB of RAM. There is another device named Exodus 1 focussed on cryptocurrency but it does not make the list though it is the very last phone launched by the company.

You'd be forgiven for writing off HTC's smartphone business as over. Other HTC smartphones users will probably have to give up on ever seeing the Android 9 Pie update coming their way.
