Man City on brink of Premier League glory, but Liverpool keep dreaming”

For a brief minute there was some drama on the final day of the English Premier League title race before Manchester City defended their title with a 4-1 win over Brighton this morning.

"This team is one of the best that ever played for Liverpool, 100 percent, but we play in a league with other very good teams - that is what we must accept and we do accept, no problem".

Glenn Murray's goal for Brighton on Sunday must have given Liverpool fans all the belief they needed to go from "we need a minor miracle" to 'this could actually happen, ' only for it to be cruelly taken away from them.

Liverpool have not been English champions in the Premier League era, which began in the 1992-93 season, with their last triumph coming in the days of the old First Division in 1990. "We need to be very close to perfection to win the Premier League as long as this is the case".

Klopp´s men, with 94 points, have recovered from a mid-season stumble to record eight straight victories. It's hard to pick a point where they fell down, though.

"I don´t have to say anything to motivate them".

"This is why I think the togetherness between supporters and players is going to be at its most important".

Champions Man City were in fact the only team to beat Liverpool in the Premier League this season, with a victory at the Etihad Stadium at the start of 2019 proving vital. It's nice but not how we wanted it.

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo: We had a good game against a fantastic opponent.

"On Tuesday night we didn't care what anyone outside of the LFC family thought about our situation - we were all about creating our own moments".

If City only draw and Liverpool beat Wolves, it would hand the title to the Reds. It's impressive again, it's just really, really good.

Our season was good as well, a really good season, an unbelievable season.

"We think about Wolves now", said Klopp, who despite his stellar reputation has not won a major trophy since 2012.

Sassuolo striker Domenico Berardi has revealed he would choose to play for Liverpool over any other team. "But it has nothing to do with the weekend except that we should be confident".

While there will be obvious disappointment at missing out on title glory, Klopp and his players must feel proud of their efforts, and they have a Champions League final against Tottenham to look forward to on June 1.

Regardless of whether Liverpool finish the weekend on top, Klopp insists he is happy with his team´s progress after four years in charge.
