Myanmar plane lands without its front wheels”

According to reports by Daily Mail, the plane had to make an emergency landing at the Mandalay airport in Myanmar after the landing gear failed to deploy.

All 82 passengers and seven crew are reported to be safe and uninjured after the incident.

"The pilot did a great job", said Win Khant, permanent secretary of transportation and telecommunication ministry, adding the incident was being investigated.

Airport spokesman Kyaw San said the pilot informed the control tower before landing that he was unable to pull down the nose wheels.

In a daring event, a pilot of the Myanmar National Airlines became the hero of the airlines after he safely landed the aircraft with no front wheels due to a technical malfunction on Sunday (May 12) morning.

Footage shows the plane landing in impressively graceful fashion before its nose tips forwards and grinds along the ground, with the aircraft eventually coming to a halt further down the runway.

A statement from the airline reveals that pilot Captain Myat Moe Aung followed emergency protocols and dumped fuel to reduce the landing weight.

Sunday's emergency landing comes days after another plane in Myanmar skidded off the runway in Yangon.

"Myanmar National Airlines would like to express our deepest appreciation to all the passengers onboard and our crews".

Ye Htut Aung, the deputy director general of Myanmar's civil aviation department, said the pilot tried repeatedly to deploy the front landing gear, but it would not function. Crosswinds that gusted higher than expected, caused the plane to veer off the runway and crash into a ravine.

It may be mentioned that on Wednesday, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines plane crash-landed and slid off a runaway while it was landing in Yangon Airport of Myanmar.
