London to get 'world's first' infinity pool with 360-degree views

London to get 'world's first' infinity pool with 360-degree views”

Swimmers at Infinity London will no doubt suffer the same fate as these tourists at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, now the world's largest infinity pool, and be forced to swim in the rain.

Work on the infinity pool, named Infinity London, will begin construction in 2020 if all goes well.

There also will be lights - for night swimmers - built into the bottom of the pool that change colors.

You'll get a good view whether you're a front crawl fan or back stroke buff: if you're not gazing at unnervingly-close helicopters in the sky, the pool's floor will be transparent, allowing you to see straight down into the core of the building - and the people down there to gaze up at you in action.

"Architects often come to us to design roof top infinity pools, but rarely do we get a say in the building design because the pool is usually an afterthought", Alex Kemsley, Compass Pools designer, said in a statement. The most common one asking the mechanics of getting in and out of the pool. "It's described as "a rotating spiral staircase" that will "[rise] from the pool floor when someone wants to get in or out".

"But on this project, we actually started with the pool design and essentially said, 'how do we put a building underneath this?'"

"The solution is based on the door of a submarine, coupled with a rotating spiral staircase which rises from the pool floor when someone wants to get in or out".

It will be built with cast acrylic to give it that transparent feel and the pool's heating system will function on reused energy generated by ACs in the skyscraper.

While its location is yet to be revealed, the Internet already has its eyes peeled.

Dubai's 360-degree swimming pool is nearing completion, and will sit above new five-star hotel, The St Regis Dubai - The Palm. Let us know using the comments section. A built-in anemometer will monitor windspeeds and a digitally-controlled building management system will make sure the water is always at the right temperature.

Compass Pools are planning on installing the 360 degree pool on top of a luxury hotel in the middle of the city, where guests can swim up top, take a look around, and not be restricted by those blasted pool sides we all loath so much.
