Kroger has made sure to point out that no customer illnesses have been reported to date.

The US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued an alert today advising consumers to a hepatitis A virus (HAV) contamination of frozen blackberries sold under the Kroger grocery store "Private Selection" brand.

Customers who have questions may contact Kroger at 1-800-KROGERS.

Hepatitis A generally ranges from mild illness lasting a few weeks to serious illness that last for several months, the release states. Symptoms include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, diarrhea, jaundice and joint pain, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

When exposed to contaminated food, a vaccination can prevent the illness if given within two weeks.
