Pelicans open to multiteam Davis deal

Pelicans open to multiteam Davis deal”

Although the New Orleans Pelicans deciding against dealing Anthony Davis by the 2018-19 National Basketball Association trade deadline, the saga hardly came to an end.

Teams inquiring about Davis include "the Los Angeles and NY teams -- the Clippers and Lakers, Knicks and Nets", as well as the Boston Celtics, per the report.

According to the report, Griffin indicated to other teams that he'd prefer to get a deal done prior to the June 20 NBA Draft so the team could meet with potential draft picks who could come to New Orleans in any deal. This report nearly certainly means potential suitors will have to include other teams in order to meet these considerable and appropriate demands in a Davis deal.

With recent All-Stars Al Horford and Gordon Hayward, All-Defensive guard Marcus Smart and rising stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, along with three 2019 first-round picks and a lightly protected future selection from the Memphis Grizzlies, the Boston Celtics may be the lone team capable of meeting Griffin's ask by itself. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, this also includes multi-team trade scenarios. The Pelicans are starting to take calls from teams regarding a Davis trade. New Orleans seems determined to be creative in constructing a deal to maximize the return on Davis, one of the NBA's elite talents.

Griffin is seeking an All-Star, a young player with All-Star potential and two first round picks with those wishes on a sliding scale. And of course the Los Angeles Lakers have made it publicly known that they want to trade for Anthony Davis.

Sources suggest to Wojnarowski that their demands for draft picks will hinge on the caliber of players they receive and vice versa.

Last season, New Orleans reportedly turned down a blockbuster deal with the Lakers that included Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma, as well as several draft picks.

The Lakers are reported to be Davis' most preferred destination, and many including myself believe they hold the best assets that can realistically be traded to New Orleans for AD.
