Actor-theatre personality Crazy Mohan passed away in Chennai after suffering a heart attack on Monday afternoon. Doctors tried their best to revive him, however, the procedure did not yield its desired results and he was officially declared dead at 2 pm. He was 66 years old.

In 1979, Mr Rangachari started his own production company with his brother, which they called Crazy Creations.

Crazy Mohan's first film was K Balachander's Poikkal Kudhirai for which he wrote the dialogues.

"Crazy" Mohan has also acted in a number of films, usually in comedic roles. Venba is a classical Tamil poetry form, the Thirukkural being a good example.

Introduced by Kamal Haasan to the big screen, Rangachari had written dialogue and screenplays for numerous films, including Apoorva Sagodhargal (1989),Michael Madana Kama Rajan (1990), Sathi Leelavathi (1995), Avvai Shanmughi (1996), Kaathala Kaathala (1998) and Vasool Raja MBBS (2004). He also wrote Indian. Crazy Mohan was if he has ever gotten into trouble for writing comedy.

Born Mohan Rangachari in 1952, Mohan assumed the name of "Crazy" Mohan after the runaway hit of his 1976 play title "Crazy Thieves of Paalavakkam" for the Natakapriya theatre group. Comedy became an instant hit and gave Rangachari a new name, "Crazy Mohan".

He has appeared in nearly 1,000 productions of the immensely popular Chocolate Krishna apart from headlining Return of Crazy Thieves, a sequel to Crazy Thieves in Palavakkam. They produced more than 30 plays and staged thousands of shows in India and overseas.

Here are some of the scenes that will remind us of Crazy Mohan's impeccably timed wisecracks.
