IOS 13 set to tighten in-app privacy permissions

IOS 13 set to tighten in-app privacy permissions”

Now, among the numerous privacy improvements coming to iOS 13, 9to5Mac has discovered that Apple's newest OS update is also going to be a lot more forthcoming about keeping track of where third-party apps have been using your location, even going so far as to show it to you on a map. After the successful release of iOS 12.3.1, Apple has been on a roll with virtually bug-free iOS launches and with iOS 13 due later on this year, Apple has made it a sort of scapegoat with its latest announcement.

Users will be shown the map for apps that track their location in the background, such as Google Maps or Instagram.

The notification will also include the app developer's explanation for why this kind of background tracking is necessary and what it's used for.

The report shows picture of the Tesla and the App Store apps wherein a pop-up message has a map with all the data.

As revealed by 9to5Mac, the pop-up will then give you the choice to always allow permission to be granted, or to change it to only be allowed when using it. In addition, iOS 13 also lets you limit location tracking for a specific app to just once'.

The reason that iOS 12.3.2 is only available for that phone is because Apple says that the update fixes an issue that caused the Camera app to capture Portrait Mode photos without the depth effect on the iPhone 8 Plus.

This new feature could mean that users can take photos and share them on Instagram at the same time as being live on Facebook, or using an augmented reality camera to distort their face at the same time as being on a Twitter Periscope live stream.

At the WWDC 2019 event that just concluded, one of the star attractions was the announcement of iOS 13 and this update is one of the most exciting updates in recent memory.
