Mi Band 4 with colour OLED display announced

Mi Band 4 with colour OLED display announced”

As expected, Xiaomi has today launched its latest Mi Band 4 fitness band in China. The Mi band 4 will be a successor to Mi Band 3 (review) smart wearable.

The 0.95-inch AMOLED display panel of the Mi Band 4 is no longer monochrome, it is a full colour display. The fitness band now comes with colored AMOLED display, an improved accelerometer for more effective motion tracking during physical activities, a built-in microphone for voice control, and without any compromise in terms of the promising battery of the Mi Band 3.

The Mi Band 4 comes with NFC connectivity, so it can connect to other devices much quicker.

Xiaomi's wearables may not offer all of the top-end tracking tech you'd find in the Fitbit Charge 3 or a Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro, but its products are usually available for a remarkably good price. There is also 2.5D scratch-resistant tempered glass on the top.

We may see the prices err slightly higher or lower than the estimates above as the Mi Band 3 launched at around £25 / $30 / AU$35. We're obviously not talking about a particularly large or sharp screen, but at 0.95 inches and 120 x 240 pixel resolution, this curved beaut is a lot cooler (at least at first glance) than what you'd normally expect to see in the sub-$50 price bracket. And with the larger display comes features like watch faces, of which there are 77.

Xiaomi is expanding its Avengers partnership with the Mi Band 4: Avengers Edition. You can dive in waters deep up to 50 meters thanks to the waterproof design and the band will even help determine your swimming skills based on your performance. Like before, it also has an NFC variant. This allows it to recognise voice commands, and pass them on to connected devices. It also comes with a six-axis accelerometer for physical activity monitoring. Battery life of 20 days is promised for the standard model, while the NFC-quipped version will have Alipay, bank card, and travel card support in China where it will also have access to Xiaomi's own voice assistant. There are three different color choices (black, red or blue) with the rear of the strap either sporting an image of the Captain America shield, Iron Man's helmet or the Avengers logo. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
