The Sisterhood Series Is Coming From Denis Villeneuve And WarnerMedia's Streaming Service”

The Bene Gesserit order of women is mysterious, with the members mastering their bodies and minds to gain abilities.

Dune: The Sisterhood, a female-led spinoff of the franchise, has landed a straight-to-series order from WarnerMedia's upcoming streaming service, our sister site Variety is reporting. Titled Dune: The Sisterhood, the series will be set in the same universe established by Villeneuve's films, with the filmmaker co-writing/producing the series along Jon Spaihts who also helped him to pen the movies.

Villeneuve will direct the opening episode and executive produce the entire run. The service will reportedly cost between $16 and $17 a month - though a cheaper, ad-supported version is apparently also being considered - and will bundle together HBO, Cinemax and a library of Warner Bros. movies and TV. Are you looking forward to Denis Villeneuve upcoming Dune film? Kevin J. Anderson, who co-authored additional Dune novels with Brian Herbert, is co-producing the new series. "Focusing a series around that powerful order of women seemed not only relevant and inspiring but a dynamic setting for the television series", Villeneuve said. There was previously a three-part Syfy miniseries that aired in 2000, followed by the 2003 followup "Children of Dune". Timothee Chalamet stars as the book's main messiah character, Paul Atreides, alongside a stacked call-list that includes names like Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Jason Momoa, Stellen Skarsgard, and Charlotte Rampling. David Lynch directed a Dune film that was released in 1984.

Dune itself will be out on 20 November next year.

Herbert published "Dune" in 1965, with the novel going on to be recognized as one of the most important sci-fi novels of all time.
