"Some of you may know I've been battling kidney disease for a few years".

Haynesworth then played six games with the Patriots in 2011 and seven with the Buccaneers to finish the 2011 season.

The Titans selected Haynesworth in the first round (15 overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft after his college career at the University of Tennessee. In the post, Haynesworth says his kidneys have failed him since July 7 and he needs a transplant.

Haynesworth shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed at Williamson Medical Center and he did not look good.

"It's hard to believe from being a professional athlete to only (eight seasons) in retirement that my body has taken another major blow", Haynesworth wrote. "But the bright side of the latest ordeal is I can ask. someone to generously donate a kidney".

He also shared that he nearly lost his life to a brain anuerism three years after retiring from the NFL. In his National Football League career, he played for the Tennessee Titans, Washington Redskins, New England Patriots, and the Tampa Bay Lightning. He parlayed those campaigns into a record-setting, seven-year, $100 million deal with the Washington Redskins in March of 2009. "Gold bless thank you for your prayers and thanks for sharing this message".

This isn't the first health problem Haynesworth has faced since leaving the NFL. He said that he has been battling kidney disease in recent years, and his kidney finally failed Monday.
