Viral hoax Momo set to become a horror movie

Viral hoax Momo set to become a horror movie”

Though there have been several news reports about this supposed unsafe challenge game, the reality is that it's all a hoax perpetuated by the internet, and there haven't been any videos or evidence to support the idea that this is something kids are actually doing. Past year that sculpture became the image used by a bunch of internet pranksters who spread rumours of a new viral challenge online.

Ichise has partnered with Orion Pictures and Roy Lee's Vertigo Entertainment to develop and produce the horror film.

The image of the frightening woman is actually a sculpture called "Mother Bird". Lee and Ichise previously collaborated on the American franchises The Grudge and The Ring, both of which were based on Japanese properties.

The "problem" sparked hysteria on-line after it was believed that a picture of a demonic hen girl would pop up throughout kids's programming and video games or on social networking apps and goad kids into violent acts and even suicide.

Either way, Momo was absolutely everywhere - but mostly, just by concerned parents sharing statuses and ill-reported articles warning other parents about the challenge. For more, you can check out the full timeline of how this viral hoax came to be over Vox. Incidents involving young people in Scotland and Argentina were covered by local media as potentially Momo-related incidents, and Momo achieved full urban legend status after Kim Kardashian shared the image with her 145 million followers on Instagram. YouTube even denied that such movies have been being promoted on the corporate's service.

However, the movie may not simply be about the idea of a terrifying bird woman coercing children into harming themselves. But the lore around Momo has become the stuff of internet legend.

We'll have our eyes open-super, super wide-as more news on the Momo Challenge movie becomes available.

This isn't the only project bringing Momo to the big screen, a horror film now titled "Getaway" is in the works using the challenge as an inspiration.
