K-pop superstar group BTS will take 'extended' break

K-pop superstar group BTS will take 'extended' break”

Known for their meticulously choreographed dance style and boyish good looks, they were the first K-pop group to reach number one on the U.S. album charts.

The band's management said the break would give them "a chance to enjoy the ordinary lives of young people in their 20s, albeit briefly".

BTS is taking a break to rest and recharge!

BTS - or Bangtan Sonyeondan, which translates as Bulletproof Boy Scouts - have gained a huge following in recent years, becoming the first K-pop group to top charts in the USA and Britain and playing a string of sold-out shows in Los Angeles, Paris and London.

"Should you have a chance encounter with a member of BTS while they are on vacation, we ask that you show consideration for their need to rest and enjoy their private time off", the statement read.

On Sunday, BTS' agency, Big Hit Entertainment, announced the band's news in a statement shared on Twitter.

BTS will take their "first official long-term break since their debut" six years ago, managers Big Hit Entertainment said, adding it will be a time to "recharge and refresh as musicians and creators".

With the band's Love Yourself campaign and the UN Speak Yourself speech previous year, BTS has mobilised their millions of ARMY fans worldwide, to empower young people around the world.

The break kicked off the same day following the band's performance at the 2019 Lotte Duty Free Family Concert earlier in the day.

"Hello. This is Big Hit Entertainment".

How are you feeling about BTS taking a break?

While no one can dispute that BTS needs some time off, it did feel eerily similar to when One Direction announced their hiatus, assured fans they would be back, and then broke up.

"The EP was BTS" fourth Top Ten on the chart after Love Yourself 承 "Her" claimed the #8 spot in 2017 and Love Yourself 轉 "Tear" scored the #6 spot in 2018.

For those wondering how long BTS' break will be, it's likely to be no more than two months because they have concerts scheduled for October.
