Man pushes birthday-gift BMW into a river

A young man reportedly pushed a new high-end BMW gifted to him by his family into a river in India because he wanted a Jaguar vehicle instead. It is unclear if they managed to get the BMW out of the water.

"Akash was unhappy with his father for not buying him (a) Jaguar", police said in a statement.

The vehicle was eventually removed from the river and police will now investigate.

According to India Today, the man was later seen trying to get the auto out of the water with the help of some people, but it was stuck on a patch of grass.

The Deccan Herald reported that no charges have been filed against Akash, with officials claiming he has a "mental deficiency" and is now undergoing treatment.

"He kept insisting that he be given a Jaguar, as a BMW is a little small for him and his friends inside", he said.

The Daily Mail reports the Indian man, known as Akash, was angry over receiving a BMW M3 because his mother and father knew he really wanted a Jaguar.

"He said the vehicle was too small but we thought he will be OK".

He dad said: "We have two cars, a BMW and a Swift".

"We never imagined he would do anything like this".

BMW cars cost around 3.5 million rupees ($65,000) locally in India, while Jaguars cost about 4 million to 5 million rupees ($92,000).

A Jaguar auto takes part in a driving display at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed at Goodwood in Chichester, United Kingdom, on July 12, 2018.
