Michael B. Jordan Fights for Justice in the Just Mercy Trailer”

The film appears to be an inspirational story and one that would certainly lead to Oscar buzz as well.

A powerful and thought-provoking true story, "Just Mercy" follows young lawyer Bryan Stevenson and his history-making battle for justice. Being a Harvard graduate, he has numerous high-paying job offers, yet he picks the one which actually serves the people. From there, the trailer explores the fight Bryan and his client, Walter McMillian (Foxx), have ahead of them as Bryan tries to get Walter off death row.

Just Mercy, co-written by Cretton and The Glass Castle's Andrew Lanham, also stars Rob Morgan (Mudbound), Tim Blake Nelson (Wormwood), Rafe Spall (Men in Black: International), and O'Shea Jackson Jr. Instead, he heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or who were not afforded proper representation, with the support of local advocate Eva Ansley (Larson).

In 1987, McMillian was sentenced to death for the murder of an 18-year old girl, despite the fact that his case stood on shaky ground with evidence to his innocence and an untrustworthy witness. Stevenson and Ansley are forced to address racism at every turn during their fight to free McMillian and others like him. Stevenson, Mike Drake, Niija Kuykendall, Gabriel Hammond, Daniel Hammond, Scott Budnick, Jeff Skoll and Charles D. King are executive producers. Brie Larson's Just Mercy Premiers at TIFF this weekend, here's how you can see it. The director previously re-teamed with the actress for The Glass Castle.
