'Fight for your dreams:' Andreescu embraces path to US Open joy”

At 19-years-old Bianca Andreescu became the first Canadian tennis player to win, not only the US Open, but a Grand Slam title. Williams saved a second match point, but could not save a third, as Andreescu pounded a forehand for her 18th and final victor of the match. It's also a career-high for Andreescu, who cracks the top 10 for the first time.

The Raptors' tag line has been "We the North" for several years.

Andreescu wasn't even ranked in the top 100 when the season began, but fast forward a few months and she sits at No. 5 after winning at Indian Wells, winning the Rogers Cup and winning her first of what could be many majors. Andreescu said that overcoming the crowd was her major challenge she knew that the crowd 'wanted Serena to win.' She said, "Obviously it was expected for Serena to fight back, but I tried my best to block everything out". "I've worked really, really hard for this moment. She came up to me in the locker room, she said some really nice things, which I'll cherish for a really, really long time", Andreescu said about the 37-year-old Williams. Andreescu had 17, while Williams had 33.

Women's US Open 2019 champion Bianca Andreescu celebrates her victory.

SERENA WILLIAMS vowed to fight on in her quest to win more grand slams after admitting her frustration at seeing another chance slip away in NY. This year has certainly been a dream season for Andreescu and her growing fanbase.

Andreescu then held serve and broke Williams for the second time in the ninth game to take the first set at 6-3. Andreescu exclaims after locating the title of the 2016 work by Vishen Lakhiani. The Canadian was leading 3-1. The Canadian player then seized her momentum and stormed to a 5-1 lead. Even Billie Jean King, whose name adorns the tennis centre where the U.S. Open is played, has tweeted about Andreescu multiple times.

Having been broken just three times all fortnight, she dropped serve six times in the final, including the first game and the last.

The former world No.1 has failed to even win a set in all four flops, including previous year against Naomi Osaka at Flushing Meadows and the past two deciders at Wimbledon to Angelique Kerber and Simona Halep.

"We're really similar", Williams said, "in terms of we both are fighters and we both are really intense".

Williams, who gave birth to her daughter, Alexis, in September 2017, won her last Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open in 2017. He is the youngest Slam finalist since Novak Djokovic at the 2010 U.S. Open.

Truth is, it's never a surprise when she wins. She is the first woman since Monica Seles in 1990 to lift the trophy in only her fourth Grand Slam tournament.

And, Andreescu is a good ambassador for tennis, Yao-Gallop said, because she's so humble and down-to-earth.
