Driver filmed 'sleeping' at the wheel of Tesla

Driver filmed 'sleeping' at the wheel of Tesla”

Tesla notes that according to their data driving with Autopilot on is safer than without, and noted that the videos of drivers happily sleeping behind the wheel is likely the result of pranksters playing a unsafe game of scaring fellow drivers, and overall likely damaging the EV cause.

In another video previous year, medical tech investor in Boston, Zen Chu, can be seen honking his horn in an effort to try and wake a driver asleep at the wheel of a Tesla, also on the Mass Turnpike.

A video of a driver appearing to sleep whilst at the wheel of a Tesla has raised eyebrows in the US. Randall said the vehicle was a Tesla.

"I just saw something weird on the highway and recorded it".

The video appears to show two people in the Tesla. In the passenger's seat, another person appears to be sleeping.

According to The Guardian, state police said they are aware of the video.

Tesla issued a statement after the video gained traction on social media.

Regarding the incident, a Tesla spokesperson claimed "these videos appear to be unsafe pranks or hoaxes", adding that its driver-monitoring system repeatedly reminds drivers to remain engaged. "Our driver-monitoring system repeatedly reminds drivers to remain engaged and prohibits the use of Autopilot when warnings are ignored".

Randall said on Twitter that the video wasn't a hoax or prank - at least on his end.

In the same interview, Randall adds that this particular incident taught him an important lesson: to keep his eyes peeled whenever he spots a Tesla in traffic because who knows if the driver is alert or not.

So it's best to just stay awake on the road - even if your vehicle can drive itself.
