Team USA loses to France, exits FIBA World Cup without a medal”

The United States lost to France, 89-79, in the quarterfinals of the 2019 FIBA World Cup on Wednesday, snapping a streak of 58 straight wins in global competition. His Frenchmen just snapped a 58-game win streak in worldwide tournament play by the Americans. Knicks guard Frank Ntilikina had 11 points for France.

The Americans were always going to be susceptible inside because of the makeup of their own roster.

Team USA had taken gold at the previous two world championships.

France now advance through to a very winnable semi-final against Argentina, who were themselves impressive in toppling Serbia yesterday evening. Evan Fournier scored 22 points while Rudy Gobert scored 21 points and recorded 16 rebounds in the win.

France had been 0-9 against the U.S.in major global play before Wednesday's win.

As well as winning the past two World Cups, they have also won the past three Olympic titles. The last time they failed to do so was back at the 2006 World Cup as they won a bronze medal. The Utah Jazz center also notched a late block on National Basketball Association teammate Donovan Mitchell with seconds left to emphatically keep the U.S.at bay.
