17-year-old planned school shooting before mother alerted police

17-year-old planned school shooting before mother alerted police”

A Washington state mother is speaking out on her decision to turn her 17-year-old son in to the authorities, after she found detailed plans in his journal for carrying out a school massacre to commemorate the anniversary of the Columbine shooting.

Nicole read her son's journal where he wrote about planning to attack his school on the anniversary of Columbine: April 20, 2020.

Even though she has definitely made the right choice, which means her son can now get the help he needs and those in danger are now safe, Nicole added that she still feels "like I've done something wrong".

"I know a lot of people that go to College Place High School".

In the entry, Nicole's son allegedly detailed the specifics of his planned attack, including the use of pipe bombs and firearms to "blast anyone in sight".

The teenager made a note to "eliminate self after optimum damage" in the writings.

Authorities say the 17-year-old College Place High School student was arrested on September 17 and charged with felony harassment and threats to bomb or injure property.

His mother said that when he was confronted about it, he told her it was "just a story" and a product of his vivid imagination.

Police Cheif Troy Tomaras said Nicole's efforts saved people's lives.

"She's very courageous, it's clearly very emotional for her". Nicole mentioned that she found some materials that could be used to create pipe bombs in her son's possession and disposed of them.

Nicole said, acknowledging that he's preserved right now in prison than at school.

"Well, he's plotting to assault and shatter other folks", Tomaras told CBS Records. "She loves her son".

"Absolutely, very courageous, very grateful", he stated.

"I'm anxious about his mental health and he needs help", Nicole said, admitting that he's safer right now in jail than at school.

So are all of the students, teachers and staff.
