Chelsea to start defence of title at home to Burnley”

The Premier League fixtures for 2017/18 have been announced.

On this occasion though it is a bit different, with Brighton having asked the Premier League if they can have the first game at home will be their first ever match in the Premier League!

Another newly-promoted team will bring down the season's curtain at Anfield as Brighton & Hove Albion travel north on Sunday, May 13.

"Who cares? You play everybody twice whatever happens..." is the usual crying call from many at around 8:45am on the morning the Premier League fixtures drop. Up to 30 more fixtures will be shown live in the next broadcasting deal - at least 190 games a season and possibly more than 200 - and one proposal is to target a peak-time television audience with kick-offs on Saturdays at 7.45pm. They will welcome the New Year with an away trip to Burnley.

The third opponent that we fare well against at home is Stoke City, in 6 home games, we've won 4, losing 1.

They'll kick off the season against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City at the Amex on the weekend of Saturday August 12th.

Chelsea did not have to contend with Champions League games on their run to the title last season, but the new Premier League fixture list means a challenging European schedule for Conte's side.

Things get more hard from October, with Liverpool (away), Tottenham (home) and champions Chelsea (away) pencilled in as three of their subsequent four fixtures, the only likely respite in that span coming with a trip to Huddersfield Town.

Although Newcastle's run-in appears less intimidating, they do not get off lightly on the final day - with Chelsea the visitors to St James' Park.

For the second consecutive season, City will play Arsenal (February 24) and Chelsea (March 3) in back-to-back matches. With safety nearly assured, Watford lost their final six league games of the season, whilst Tony Pulis's West Brom picked up just five more points after hitting the 40-point mark in February.

Manchester United's first meeting with Liverpool, always one of the highlights of the season, will be at Anfield on October 14.

As part of the agreement with the regulator Ofcom, at least 190 Premier League matches per season are to be broadcast in the United Kingdom from 2019-20, up from 168.

While there's plenty of debate as to which is the best league in the world, there's very little doubt that the Premier League is the most popular and the richest.
