Jared Kushner to meet with Senate Intelligence staff soon

White House spokeswoman Hope Hicks confirmed reported meetings with the Russian ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, who set up a meeting for Kushner to meet with Sergey Gorkov, the chief of Vnesheconombank. A third source later said the exact timing of the meeting is still unclear.

Those reports suggested that Flynn may have given Kislyak the impression that the incoming administration might be willing to consider lifting sanctions that were imposed on Moscow following Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea, a Ukrainian territory.

"Jared was the one who told Trump firing [former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James] Comey was a good idea", Maher said, also calling him out for meeting Russian officials.

Bridge Project has launched 'Trump Connections' which creates a relational diagram linking Trump and his administration (including Kushner) to Putin and other Russian officials. The intent was to explore whether the USA and Russian Federation could set up a channel of communication to improve relations.

Kushner's meeting would be the first step in an agreement he made with the committee.

"Jared Kushner is one of the most influential people in Trump's orbit and coincidentally is also right in the thick of this scandal", American Bridge spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said in a statement.

The committee is one of several entities investigating whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation.

Mr. Mueller, who was appointed last month, will meet with committee Chairman Richard Burr, North Carolina Republican, and ranking Democrat Sen.

The White House has downplayed these revelations about Mr Kushner, saying it was common for officials to establish back-channel communications - even though Mr Trump was not president at the time, meaning his son-in-law had no official role yet in the government.
