"Wonder Woman" soars on Rotten Tomatoes

There's no confirmation of a follow-up to "Wonder Woman" on Warner Bros.' end, but the critical acclaim and early earnings from the original probably make it a safe bet. Not only is Warner Bros. first feature film for Gal Gadot's Diana Prince wowing audiences and reaping positive reviews from fans and critics alike, the film's also making its mark at the box office.

Wonder Woman has been banned in Lebanon due to the film's leading star, Israeli actress Gal Gadot. The decision was made by the Lebanese government who took issue with the fact that Gadot is Israeli and served in the military. Basically, everyone is in love with the movie, including some other familiar heroes.

"Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins". And I think it's Wonder Woman. It also was the highest-grossing opening weekend ever for a film directed by a woman. Keeping mum on story details, Jenkins at least revealed Wonder Woman 2 will take place in the good old US of A, with rumors that it will be set in the present time.

Very few movies are without its faults, as I thought the CGI became clunky at times and the script a bit cheesy, but it captured the essence of a superhero movie from start to finish.

Meanwhile, as Wonder Woman continues to smash the pitifully low expectations Hollywood had for its success, we remember again that women control the box office, and good movies by and for women make cold hard cash. You want to do a movie like this because you believe in it. "It might be a $10 million movie or it might be $200 million movie". And yes, Jenkins knows exactly where she wants to take Diana next: "The story will take place in the US, which I think is right", she told Entertainment Weekly.

Gadot made her debut as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice a year ago.

Though critically lauded and financially successful, the release of Wonder Woman hasn't come without controversy.

"Wonder Woman", $122.5 million worldwide.
