More US Voters Trust Comey Over Trump After US Senate Hearing

In his testimony on June 8, Comey told the Senate Intelligence Committee that he believed Trump had fired him over his role as lead of the FBI investigation into Russian interference in the USA election and Trump campaign associates' possible ties to Russia.

President Trump is reportedly under investigation for possible obstruction of justice, the Washington Post reported Wednesday evening, citing unidentified officials.

They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Recent news reports have suggested Trump sought all three officials' help in pressuring FBI Director James Comey to drop his investigation into former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn.

But as the legal rope has tightened, Mr Trump's allies have gone on the offensive, questioning the credibility of the special investigator Mr Mueller, a respected former Federal Bureau of Investigation director who served under Republican president George W Bush.

It also quoted an intelligence official who said Mueller's office had asked the NSA for documents related to the agency's interactions with the administration as part of the investigation into Russian meddling into last year's presidential election, and whether Trump campaign officials colluded with Moscow.

Americans are mixed on whether the Justice Department investigation, now led by Robert Mueller, can be fair and impartial.

On Wednesday, the Washington Post described the decision by Mr Mueller to investigate President Trump's own conduct as a major turning point in the investigation, which until recently focused on the Russian angle.

Mr. Rosenstein repeatedly conveyed his support for Mr. Mueller's role at a recent Senate hearing. We can just watch the news and follow our Twitter feeds to see that, in many of his public statements, Trump has been deceitful.

The interviews could come as early as this week, the Post said.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich led one line of attack with a tweet that said "Republicans are delusional if they think the special counsel is going to be fair".

House Speaker Paul Ryan and other Republican leaders publicly said they thought the investigation should be allowed to run its course, and that firing the special counsel would be a mistake.

After broadcasting the assurances he had received from Comey in a firing letter, on May 9, Trump claimed "total and complete vindication" following Comey's testimony.

Now, Mueller's job (and/or rule of law in the United States) may be in jeopardy. Here, Trump appears to be directly referring to arguments for firing Mueller from Newt Gingrich and other right-wing infotainers. He added that fundraising records show some of the lawyers whom Mueller selected for his team have contributed to Democrats.

SHAPIRO: Is it your understanding that the dismissal of FBI Director Comey could have been what triggered this expansion of the investigation into possible obstruction of justice?
