Is Real Madrid's Álvaro Morata the right man for Manchester United?”

Manchester United's search for a new striker could be about to come to a successful conclusion, with reports suggesting that they have agreed a deal with Alvaro Morata.

Manchester United had been close to acquiring the services of Atletico Madrid's French striker Antoine Griezmann, but the player refused to move after the Madrid based club was banned from any transfer activity.

It was believed that the Red Devils would had been prepared the break the world record transfer fee that they set last summer in an attempt to bring the French global to the Premier League.

The Old Trafford club have already had one bid, said to be around £52million, rebuffed by Madrid but they are expected to return with a second offer.

"I haven't met Real Madrid's directors yet".

The possible move to Old Trafford has been made even more likely on the back of the news that Manchester United will not be offering Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new contract.

Despite still managing to score 20 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions, it looks as though the 24-year-old will quit the Spanish capital in favour of a more prominent role elsewhere.

Despite his limited opportunities, Morata continued to score regularly when given a chance, netting 15 league goals last season.

However, it appears Jose Mourinho's side are leading the charge with the Red Devils in pole position to complete his signing.

Real Madrid has an embarrassment of riches up front.

Morata has played for two of the biggest clubs in Europe and will be an exciting signing if United manage to seal a deal over the coming weeks.

Any potential deal to bring Griezmann to Old Trafford now looks extremely hard, however, following the confirmation of Atletico Madrid's transfer ban.
