Majority Of Americans Think Trump Meddled In Russia Probe

The former speaker said Trump called him Monday night and that the two discussed Gingrich's concerns.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is looking into Mr. Trump's words and conduct in the events of recent weeks, marking a stark shift in the investigation that initially was supposed to focus on Russian influence and any connections to the Trump campaign, but not necessarily Mr. Trump himself, the report said.

But a source close to the President told CNN's Jim Acosta that Trump has been advised to avoid such a dramatic move.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr, R-N.C., and Sen.

The meeting comes a day after lawmakers questioned Justice Department officials about the probe and Mueller's independence, and after a friend of Trump said the White House was considering firing Mueller.

The top lawyer for the Trump transition team has ordered the organization's staff to preserve all records and other materials related to the widening investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian representatives. Last week, Comey testified in a Senate hearing that he believed he was sacked "because of the Russian Federation investigation".

Trump, however, referred to the Post's reporting as a "phony" story in a tweet Thursday. "There also remain unanswered questions about the attorney general's prior testimony before the committee and his role in firing Director Comey".

Investigators in Mueller's office are set to interview Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and National Security Agency Director Adm. Mike Rogers, a source familiar with the matter has told CNN.

Pence's office confirmed he had retained Richard Cullen, a former Virginia attorney general and US attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, to assist "in responding to inquiries" from Mueller. "Regulations way down, jobs and enthusiasm way up!"

President Donald Trump is touting his social media following, saying he can deliver his message directly to voters instead of going through the "fake news media".

So now, the anti-Trump "deep state" forces in the leftist media and Obama holdovers in the government are trying a new tactic, which is to target Trump for obstruction of justice. According to the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, "Despite high public interest in the content of the memos, Comey's testimony that the records are not classified and a ruling from the Justice Department that the Federal Bureau of Investigation should expedite CNN's [Freedom of Information Act] request for the memos, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has not provided either the documents or a reason to withhold them". And Democrats and Republicans alike have criticized his use of Twitter, particularly amid the ongoing investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election.

"I've not ever been a particular fan of Mr. Comey's", said James Shaw, 53, of Olney, Illinois, pointing to the Clinton saga as a key reason.

Comey's name has been floated around as a possible candidate in politics, but it is unlikely that the 56-year-old attorney will go down that route. Mueller is now leading the investigation into whether Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 presidential election. The New York Times also reported the story.

The President than went on to renew his attack on his presidential election opponent Hillary Clinton and her husband, former USA president Bill Clinton.
