Liverpool "willing to pay up to €70m" for Aubameyang

Reports in France today claim the Reds are willing to meet the Bundesliga side's £61m asking price for the Dortmund striker.

The Gabon forward, 27, has been chased by Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United to name a few this summer.

With stellar numbers like that, he'll obviously command a massive amount in the summer transfer market, and Liverpool Football Club seem keen on buying.

The 55-cap global has been at Dortmund - who recently lost boss Thomas Tuchel - since 2013, playing 189 times for the German side, scoring 120 times.

Aubameyang scored 40 goals in all competitions last season and landing him would represent a significant statement of intent from the grand old club that's so very desperate to add more modern silverware to their bursting coffers.

Jurgen Klopp is an obvious admirer of the Gabon global having signed him from Saint Etienne for Dortmund in 2013 and will have undoubtedly enquired about his former player at one point since his arrival on Merseyside.

Whether or not he's able to take him to Anfield remains to be seen though, but as Liverpool prepare to return to the Champions League, they will continue to be linked with the top names around Europe as they hope to significantly strengthen the squad ahead of next season.

Meanwhile Liverpool remain hopeful of securing a deal for Mohamed Salah with negotiations for the Roma winger set to continue into early next week.
