Trump may 'terminate' Russia probe investigator, says president's pal”

On Wednesday night, Sean Hannity ripped into The Washington Post's latest report that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has expanded his investigation to include President Trump for possible obstruction of justice.

Matt Lewis, a CNN political commentator, said Trump has a pattern of surprise moves, such as the firing of former FBI Director James Comey. The comments come amid increasing frustration at the White House and among Trump supporters that the investigation will overshadow the president's agenda for months to come - a prospect that has Democrats salivating.

"I think he's considering perhaps terminating the special counsel", said Ruddy.

On PBS on Monday, Ruddy said that Trump's consideration of moving to fire Mueller was "pretty clear by what one of his lawyers said on television recently".

Rosenstein is charged with Mueller's fate because Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from all matters having to do with the Trump-Russia investigation.

Democrats, reacting to the chatter, said that if Mr Trump fired Mr Mueller they would try to enact an independent counsel statute so they could appoint him.

"Special counsel Mueller may be fired only for good cause, and I am required to put that cause in writing".

Asked about Trump's own contention that the president fired Comey with the Russian Federation probe in mind, and regardless of any recommendation from anyone else, Sessions said: "I guess I'll just have to let his words speak for themselves".

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter offered a similar message, tweeting, "Now that we know TRUMP IS NOT UNDER INVESTIGATION, Sessions should take it back & fire Mueller".

Ruddy did not dismiss the White House communications team's words, but he did call Spicer's statement "bizarre".

They say Mr Trump did not collude with Russian Federation and see the investigation as a politically-motivated sham that handicaps his ability to execute his agenda, according to one person who advises the White House on how to handle the probe. The person demanded anonymity to discuss strategy on the sensitive matter.

Newsmax Media CEO Christopher Ruddy stood by his claims after the White House downplayed his comments and suggested he did not know what he was talking about.

Ruddy said the president was weighing whether to dismiss Mueller because of concerns about conflicts of interest. But the president is going to seek the advice of his counsel and inside the government as well as outside. Susan Collins, R-Maine, Rosenstein said, "Senator, I'm not going to follow any order unless I believe those are lawful and appropriate orders".

The former Federal Bureau of Investigation director also testified that he and the agency had believed Sessions was "inevitably going to recuse" for reasons he said he could not elaborate on. "He comes from a law firm that represents members of the Trump family", Ruddy said. Ruddy did not immediately respond to questions seeking clarification.

The speaker listed the policy issues that congressional Republicans were focused on like a bill on the House floor this week to improve accountability for veterans' health care, telling reporters, "We are focused on solving people's problems".

James Quarles, who worked as an assistant special prosecutor on the Watergate Special Prosecution Force and who also works as an attorney at WilmerHale, has a long record of donating to Democratic groups starting in 1987 for the PAC Dukakis for President.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters later that Trump thought Sessions "did a very good job" and was especially "strong" on denying any collusion between Trump's campaign and Russian Federation.
