Funeral set for US student freed from N. Korea

The Hamilton County Coroner's Office in OH is investigating the death of Otto Warmbier, the 22-year-old American who returned home from North Korea in a coma last week, and died six days later.

North Korean officials reportedly said Warmbier had been in a coma for over a year, nearly the entire time he was incarcerated. Obama's office had no reaction, but his former aides have said he worked tirelessly to try to get Warmbier and other Americans released from North Korea.

"It's a total disgrace what happened to Otto". "And frankly, if he had been brought home sooner, I think the result would have been a lot different".

Trump adds, "he should have been brought home a long time ago".

USA college student Otto Warmbier died Monday, days after his release from North Korea.

Tony Kim, who also goes by his Korean name, Kim Sang-duk, is a 58-year-old US citizen who was temporarily teaching an accounting course at the Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, North Korea's only private university. "It does demand something that's beyond the typical response".

Trump's administration talked up the threat of war earlier this year, sending aircraft carrier strike groups to the region and holding military exercises with allies Japan and South Korea. In April, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned that a war would devastate the region.

Three more USA citizens are now being held by North Korea.

On Tuesday, U.S. Sen. He told Bloomberg in May that he'd be open to meeting Kim under the right conditions.

"The United States once again condemns the brutality of the North Korean regime as we mourn its latest victim", the statement reads. He said the form would require Americans to affirm they're aware of what's transpired to other US citizens, such as Warmbier, whom the senator said was "murdered" by the North. "If there are any USA preconditions for the talks, the No. 1 priority has to be the release of the three other prisoners".

The U.S. and North Korea have no diplomatic relations. Only one country has detained more Americans than North Korea: Iran, where five Americans are missing or detained.

The US Air Force sent a pair of B-1B Lancer bombers to the Korean Peninsula for two separate drills with Japanese and South Korean air forces.

The China-based travel agency that organized a trip to North Korea for an American college student who died after being released in a coma from North Korean detention said it would no longer take US citizens to the country.

"Most likely, China will express concern and regret over the case", Shi said.

Son also called on the Moon administration to find a solution to the six South Korean detainees in the North.

United States officials negotiated his release earlier this month, though Warmbier was in a coma by the time he arrived in the US.

The death of US student Otto Warmbier has brought a wave of sorrow and a new stumbling block to any sort of negotiations between the United States and North Korea.

He was being held for "hostile acts against the country", the regime's official news agency said, although details about the alleged acts were not provided by North Korean authorities. It said his medical records from an air ambulance service that brought him to OH and from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was hospitalized until his death Monday, have been reviewed, and the treating physicians have been interviewed extensively. They did not cite a specific cause of death.

"That should never ever be allowed to happen", Trump said. "There is no possibility of it". "This issue won't take us to a military option".
