President Trump: Warmbier 'should have been brought home a long time ago'

James Foley was a freelance war correspondent before he was captured and held for almost two years.

Kasich calls Warmbier a young man of exceptional spirit.

"The North Koreans should release them unconditionally", he said.

Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee says the USA government should consider banning Americans from visiting North Korea. North Korean officials said he became comatose after he was given a sleeping pill following a botulism diagnosis.

Warmbier, a University of Virginia student, was accused of trying to steal a propaganda banner while visiting with a tour group and was convicted of subversion.

"All those that wish to join his family in celebrating his life are cordially invited", said the Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum.

A public funeral service is scheduled for Thursday at 9 Wyoming High School.

John McCain waded into controversy on Tuesday with his remarks about Otto Warmbier, the American college student whose imprisonment in North Korea resulted in a coma.

Asked Monday about Warmbier's death, Trump replied, "At least we got him home to be with his parents ... a lot of bad things happened ... it is a brutal regime, and we'll be able to handle it". Moon expressed condolences to the Warmbier family and the American people.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Tuesday offered few details about how the U.S. plans to respond to Warmbier's death, promising only that the USA will "continue to apply economic and political pressure" to change North Korea's behavior.

He typed, "While I greatly appreciate the efforts of President Xi & China to help with North Korea, it has not worked out". The United States and its allies would like to see an oil embargo and bans on the North Korean airline and guest workers among other moves, steps diplomats say have been resisted by China and Russian Federation. Justin Weber told The Associated Press on Tuesday morning that a press conference is expected later to provide details.

"Unfortunately, the terrible, torturous mistreatment our son received at the hands of the North Koreans ensured that no other outcome was possible beyond the sad one we experienced today", his parents said. Doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center examined Warmbier last week upon his return to OH and reported that he had severe brain damage and was in a state of "unresponsive wakefulness". "I sent a delegation late previous year to North Korea to try to get Otto out in exchange for some humanitarian assistance".

He said the form would require Americans to affirm they're aware of what's transpired to other USA citizens, such as Warmbier, whom the senator said was "murdered" by the North.

Warmbier died in OH on Monday, days after being released by North Korea.

"The way his detention was handled was appalling, and a tragedy like this must never be repeated", officials with Young Pioneer Tours said Monday.

Sentenced to hard labour for stealing a political poster from a North Korean hotel, the 22-year-old Warmbier was medically evacuated in a coma last week after almost 18 months in captivity.

Relatives say Otto Warmbier died Monday.

The coroner's office daily report Tuesday included Warmbier in its listings with cause of death termed "pending".

The college student died shortly after his return to OH after being held for more than 17 months.
