United Kingdom marks Int'l Yoga Day at London Eye, Trafalgar Square”

Heavy rains failed to dent the enthusiasm of thousands who had gathered at Lucknow's Ambedkar Sabha Sthal to participate in the 3rd International Yoga Day along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, talking on the occasion, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh said Yoga is not just for its physical benefits but a means to spiritual upliftment in making life more disciplined. Pointing out towards the fast-paced ways of the 21st century, Thomson said it is important for us to ensure that we look after ourselves through healthy lifestyles and choices and that which helps us sustain physically and mentally, adding that Yoga connects our bodies with nature and leads us in a better balance with the world around us. Yoga is a medium to achieve wellness.

"Today, there is hardly any country where there is no attraction or awareness for yoga".

We may not master yoga or become teachers but we should not stop from doing Yoga. "Emerging from ancient South Asia, Yoga is now practised in different forms all around the world and has assumed a global identity", he said. It is cheap and is used in very small quantity but none can deny its significance. Many tried to shake hands with him.

The Prime Minister did yogic exercises and "pranayam" as demonstrated by a group of yoga teachers on the stage.

Modi it set to fly back to New Delhi in an Indian Air Force plane.

Earlier, addressing the gathering, Adityanath said yoga helps to unite people.

The High Commission of India in London and India Tourism's United Kingdom division staged a yoga takeover of the Coca Cola London Eye, teaming up with UK-based yoga organisations to unite in a so-called "Wheel of Yoga", on Sunday.
