London fire: Local administrator resigns amid criticism”

This follows Prime Minister Theresa May telling MPs that "the government has arranged to test cladding in all relevant tower blocks", and that she had just been "informed that a number of these tests have come back as combustible".

The prime minister's office estimated that 600 high-rise buildings in England have cladding similar to Grenfell Tower. "These plans are being discussed and agreed in principle as matter of urgency as part of the response by councils across London to support the team working on recovery efforts", said City of London Corporation spokesperson. "They will be rehoused if they need to be".

All local authorities responsible for the flats have been informed.

Meanwhile, the chief executive of west London's Kensington and Chelsea Council - who's been among the officials and politicians facing criticism over the Grenfell Tower fire - has resigned.

The fire brigade said 40 fire engines and 200 firefighters had been called to the blaze in Grenfell Tower, which has 120 flats.

The statement reads: "Flintshire Council has received a number of requests trying to establish if the cladding system used on Grenfell Tower in London is the same system that has been put in place following the completion of a major refurbishment of the three tower blocks in Flint, known as "The Heights".

"What we need now is to make sure they conduct updated fire checks and provide information to residents and people who live nearby on what this means".

Flintshire Council will not be drawn on speculation surrounding cladding used on its tower blocks.

The British premier told Parliament that as many as 151 homes had been destroyed in the massive fire on June 14, majority in Grenfell Tower and some in the vicinity of the building.

A communities department spokesman said: "The situation is that 600 buildings have cladding".

After receiving the results of independent fire safety tests, commissioned after the tragedy at Grenfell towers, Camden is being forced to remove all their cladding from five tower blocks on the Chalcots Estate in Swiss Cottage.

Replying to Mrs May's statement, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said Grenfell Tower residents were "let down - both in the immediate aftermath and so cruelly beforehand".

Councillor Georgia Gould, leader of the council, said: "The new results from the laboratory show that the outer cladding panels themselves are made up of aluminium panels with a polyethylene core".

Holgate, who has been in the post since 2014, said last week's fire, where at least 79 people died, was "heartbreaking" but that his presence would be a "distraction".

Theresa May apologised for the failures by local and national government in reacting to the tragedy and will address the Commons on Thursday.

She said every family is being paid £5,000 ($6,300) in cash to help them cope, and that every adult over 16 in those families is getting £500 in cash.

She added: 'For any guilty parties there will be nowhere to hide'.

One of the hospitals that treated victims of the inferno administered an antidote for hydrogen cyanide exposure to several people, the BBC said, but could not confirm whether it was given after a confirmed diagnosis, or as a precautionary measure.
