Megyn Kelly Defends Alex Jones Interview

Megyn Kelly Defends Alex Jones Interview”

On June 12th, Sandy Hooky Promise released a statement announcing that Kelly was axed. "How would you feel if someone shot your kids, some fool said it wasn't true - and I gave him a show?"

"Well, Sandy Hook is complex because I've had debates where devil's advocates said the whole story is true, and I've had debates where I've said none of it is true", Jones said. First, she came under heavy criticism for a highly anticipated interview with Vladimir Putin.

First, there was her exclusive sit-down with Russian president Vladimir Putin during which she lobbed softball questions amid a federal investigation into Russia's involvement in November's US election. He then accused Kelly's interview of being "propaganda" because she interrogated him about his views on the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting and other issues, arguing that they "clip and misrepresent" his positions.

The interview hasn't even aired yet (it is, in glaring oversight and cruel irony, scheduled for Father's Day), but the fallout has already been considerable. He also called on NBC not to broadcast the interview, and described the host as cold and robotic.

Among spreading other conspiracy theories, Jones has said tragedies like the mass shootings at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn., and Century 16 movie theater in Aurora, Colo., both in 2012, were hoaxes, propagated by opponents of the Second Amendment.

Megyn Kelly's upcoming interview with InfoWars host Alex Jones has stirred controversy, prompting a Sandy Hook group to drop her from hosting its annual gala.

Kelly defended her interview on Twitter, pointing out that President Donald Trump has appeared on his show and complimented the radio host, and he has been given White House press credentials, the Post noted.

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that J.P. Morgan Chase requested its on-air and digital ads be removed from Kelly's program and "from all NBC news programming until after the show airs".

"He's a controversial figure for sure, but as journalists it's our job to interview newsmakers and people of influence no matter how abhorrent their views may be", Cole told CNN Monday.

"Sandy Hook Promise can not support the decision by Megyn or NBC to give any form of voice or platform to Alex Jones", Nicole Hockley, co-founder and managing director of the organization, said in a statement.
