Incredible footage shows crowd catch falling teen from U.S. amusement park ride

Incredible footage shows crowd catch falling teen from U.S. amusement park ride”

A 14-year-old girl from Greenwood, Delaware fell from a gondola ride at the Six Flags Great Escape amusement park in George, New York, plummeting 25 feet to the ground.

"I couldn't let that little girl die", he said on Sunday.

The girl was then rushed to Albany Medical Center in stable condition with no serious injuries, the Warren County Sheriff's Office said. She lets go, strikes a tree limb on the way down, and is caught by people in the crowd.

The harrowing footage shows the girl slip underneath the safety bar of a gondola ride called "Sky Ride", a family amusement with no heigh requirement.

Eventually they chose to form a buffer with their arms, promising the girl that if she fell they would catch her as she quickly began to lose grip. Police officers said she did not sustain any serious injuries in the fall.

Generally speaking, amusement parks can be sued for negligence, including failing to maintain equipment, failing to warn riders of risks, failing to train the operators of rides, and providing incorrect instructions to riders. "Once it stopped she continued to hang for about 3-4 minutes screaming!", Facebook user Crystal Nadareski wrote in a post accompanying the video.

"My daughter was just traumatized", he said.

A 47-year-old man from Schenectady, New York, was treated for a back injury and released from Glens Falls Hospital, the sheriff's office said.

He said the ride has no seatbelt, and just a bar across to hold patrons inside.

Wood stated that the Sky Ride was cleared for operation on Sunday but that, "out of an abundance of caution, the ride will remain closed while we conduct a thorough internal review".

Sheriff's investigators, assisted by park personnel, inspected the ride and the vehicle the girl was in Saturday night and said everything was in proper working order and all safety equipment was intact and operational.
